So I'm coming to you from a bit of extra time in Sociology which I suspect will happen often. So we are looking up "social issues". Ive decided on the Education speech which Obama presented yesterday. Which our school, being as conservative as it is, chose not to watch it. Because it was going to political and controversial and socialist! Ooooh scary. It's not like the Catholic Church is one of the largest socialist groups leading the world today. And our excuse was that it "offended some people".
Everything. Offends. Some. People.
And Obama did not even write the speech! It was Teachers for Teachers. Obama is just the messenger. Why must we always oppose the messenger? This is silly. He is the president of the United States. Let's get over ourselves please.
Some schools who watched it also watched the Bush Education speech from 1991 and more recent ones. They said they were similar and sending the same message. Get educated, work towards a goal, apply yourself, learn all you can. Wow. Scary stuff. Clap your hands over the children's ears and call in to complain!
